Ann Curry
Ann Curry, an American photojournalist and journalist, who has covered wars and natural catastrophes for more than 45 years, is focused on the hardships of the people within these zones. Curry is a reporter from conflict zones of Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. She was most well-known for her work as a reporter on the Today show which is a morning news program that aired on the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry is well-known for her reporting of humanitarian crises and natural disasters which are particularly prevalent in countries that have been devastated by conflict. Curry's father served as a sailor within the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. The couple met when her father was in Japan shortly after World War II. As a result of her father's active military service, her family often relocated. The family eventually relocated to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended high school. She graduated with a journalism certificate from the University of Oregon in 1978. She is likely to have created an empathic communication style because of her experiences with different cultures throughout her life. After graduation, she graduated with honors from Ashland secondary school. While working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon she had the foundation for a long and successful professional career in broadcasting. She was an early female journalist at the history of the station when she was 22. In the following years, she moved into the role of anchor and reporter for KGW the NBC affiliate station located in Portland. A few years later, she moved to Los Angeles as a reporter for KCBS TV.
